Script for first call

Remember, network marketing is a relationship business and the phone is a crucial tool in building a relationship. Developing your phone skills will help you tremendously. Listen to the audios in our Free Tools section to build your calling and marketing skills.

Hello, may I speak to (first name). Hi (first name) this is (full name) calling. A few days ago you requested information on the internet about work from home and I'd like to get some information to you. Would this be a good time or would another time be better? If yes: I'd like to quickly share a bit about what we're doing and if you like what you hear, I'll send you to a website so you can review the information with no pressure - does that sound good? If no: Schedule another time.

Before I get started, let me ask you this: are you seriously looking or casually browsing? Where are you at this point?

I work with (company name). Here is where you give a BRIEF three or four line explanation about what you do. For example: we are in the business of helping people improve their health. Our product is a cost-effective way for busy people to reduce stress and fatigue and we've been written up in several major national magazines. We have a proven training system and work closely with you to build your business. Does that sound like something you'd like to know more about?

Good. I'm going to send you an email to (always verify their address) and it will come from (your email address) and it will say info I promised in the subject line. That way you'll know it's the email you're looking for.

The email will have a link to my website where you'll be able to review all the information. When do you think you'll evaluate the information so we can set a follow up time to talk? Set appointment date and time before hanging up.

Anatomy of the script:
You are expressing right away that you are only going to take a few minutes. We're all busy and people will relax knowing you will be quick and to the point.

Key question: Are you seriously looking or casually browsing?

We've found this to be the BEST question we've ever used. It asks someone to tell you why they want to start a business in a very non-threatening way. If you ask them: Why do you want to start a business? They will answer: To make extra money. With our question they often tell you WHY they want to make more money and that is the crux of understanding them. They are telling you what's most important RIGHT NOW and how your solution can help them. Ask the question and then LISTEN closely.

Remember: BE YOURSELF and share your enthusiasm. All the facts and statistics in the world won't mean a thing to someone who is not interested or ready. Not knowing all the facts and statistics will never matter to someone who hears the excitement in your voice, knows you are for real and will help them achieve their goals. In other words: You can't say the wrong thing to the right person or the right thing to the wrong person. Don't take anything personally. It's not about you. If you Òshow upÓ, make the calls and connect with people on a consistent basis, your success is guaranteed.
