First Call Script

Network marketing is a relationship business and the phone is a crucial tool in building a relationship. Developing your phone skills will help you tremendously. This script has worked great for all types of businesses. Just be sure to come up with your bulletproof 1 minute description.

Hello, can I speak with (first name). Hi (first name) this is (full name) calling. You requested information about a home-based business, do you have a quick couple of minutes right now? If they say no: set another time. If they say yes: Great. I’d like to quickly share a bit about what we’re doing and if you like what you hear, I’ll send you to a website so you can review the information with no pressure, does that work?
Before I get started, let me ask you this: are you seriously looking or casually browsing? Where are you at this point?

I work with (company name). Here is where you give a BRIEF three or four line explanation about what you do. For example: we are in the business of helping people improve their health. Our product is cutting edge. Did you ever wish you had more energy, or focus? You’ve got to check this out. Then anything relevant like: our company has been written up in several major national magazines. Or, Oprah has featured our product, or anything that offers credibility. (If you’re new, or don’t have anything like that, leave it out!) We a successful group of people and we’ve got a proven training system and will work closely with you to build your business. Does that sound like something you’d like to know more about?

Good. I’m going to send you an email to (always verify their address) and it will come from (your email address) and it will say info I promised in the subject line. That way you’ll know it’s the email you’re looking for.

The email will have a link to my website and it’ll take you about (amount of time to review, say 20 minutes as an example) 20 minutes to review. When will you have 20 minutes to watch and we can set a time to get back together and answer your questions?

Anatomy of the script:
You are expressing right away that you are only going to take a few minutes. We’re all busy and people will relax knowing you will be quick and to the point.

Key question: Are you seriously looking or casually browsing?

We’ve found this to be the BEST question we’ve ever used. It asks someone to tell you why they want to start a business in a very non-threatening way. If you ask them: Why do you want to start a business? They will answer: To make extra money. With our question they often tell you WHY they want to make more money and that is the crux of understanding them. They are telling you what’s most important to them RIGHT NOW and how your solution can help them. Ask the question and then LISTEN closely.

Remember: BE YOURSELF and share your enthusiasm. All the facts and statistics in the world won’t mean a thing to someone who is not interested or ready. Not knowing all the facts and statistics will never matter to someone who hears the excitement in your voice, knows you are for real and will help them achieve their goals. In other words: You can’t say the wrong thing to the right person or the right thing to the wrong person. Don’t take anything personally. It’s not about you. If you show up, make the calls and connect with people on a consistent basis, your success is guaranteed.

The author of http://www.leadslab.com has written an excellent article. You have made your point and there is not much to argue about. It is like the following universal truth that you can not argue with: Despite constant warning, you have never met anybody who has had their arm broken by a swan. Thanks for the info.
